Applying to the
​Master Gardener Program

If you are interested in participating in the MG Program, please contact University of Wisconsin-Extension Master Gardener Program. 

If you are a Master Gardener who has relocated to Wisconsin from another state, or if you are rejoining the program after a period of inactivity, contact [email protected] to learn your specific program requirements.

​Scholarships are often available to help cover the cost of upcoming Master Gardening training courses. Please contact: [email protected]



Requirements
​for Certification

To become a certified Master Gardener, you must:
  • Participate in an approved learning opportunity from the Wisconsin Extension Horticultural Program, such as Foundations in Gardening
​                            - and-
  • Complete the Master Gardener Onboarding course

At the completion of all the requirements, you may receive an official Master Gardener Volunteer certificate and are eligible to order a name badge. 

Recertification is required annually to remain a Wisconsin Master Gardener in good standing. Recertification is accomplished by completing and submitting a record of:
  • a minimum number of hours of continuing education
                             - and-
  • a minimum number of hours of ​volunteer service.
